Psychosis is a mental health problem that causes people to perceive or interpret things differently from those around them.
Symptoms and signs include:
Hearing, seeing, tasting, or smelling things that are not there
Believing in things that are not true, and may be impossible
Trouble putting thoughts in order or keeping track of usual tasks
Decline in cognitive abilities including memory and attention
Distancing oneself from people or previously enjoyable activities
MindMap is a public education campaign hosted by the Program for Specialized Treatment Early in Psychosis (STEP). This program provides a comprehensive team based model of care for young patients and their families, and is also engaged in research, education and mental health policy initiatives.
